696UXO  was originally petrol engined having been new to Shadwell, Warrington in 1958. To increase fuel economy many of this type were converted to a diesel engine. It was acquired by Gorwoods, East Cottingwith, and following this  Thornes. Reportedly not operated actively with Thornes, the coach passed to Coastal and Country of Whitby, North Yorkshire.
